Rehabotics Medical Technology Corporation, Taiwan
Mirror Hand is a state of the art exoskeleton invented and design by The Rebabotics Medical Technology Corporation (RMTC), a spin-off company under the supports from Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology. As a Taiwan brand dedicated to caring for global patients, RMTC develops and produces robotic rehabilitation devices that are highly interactive and suited to daily use. RMTC strive to make innovative, safe and effective products, in hopes of improving the quality of rehabilitation.
We have designed and developed the wearable hand exoskeleton for patients with neuromuscular disorders and diseases that lead to permanent loss of hand functions. By applying our design, we hope to increase the patient’s finger muscle strength and joint flexibility to avoid or ease the phenomenon of muscle atrophy and joint sclerosis resulted from the long-term fixation in the same posture.
Dexterity for Neurorehabilitation
Mirror Hand applies sensing technology so that patients can guide the affected hand using their healthy hand to perform mirror therapy or bimanual rehabilitation; Mirror Hand allow patients to manipulate objects as small objects as a screws.
Part (a) Exoskeletal Hand
It weighs less than 800 grams, reducing pressure while wearing it. The product looks smart and professional, with optimized metal structural design and the use of biocompatibility materials that fit the skin.
Part (b) Sensor Glove
The Sensor Glove is breathable and weighs only 110 grams, making it extremely easy to wear.
Part (c) Control Box
Designed as compact and light-weight (less than 130 grams), enabling patients to no longer be restricted to rehabilitation centers.
Bridging Rehabilitation to Daily Life
Mirror Hand combines passive continuous motion (CPM) and bilateral training mechanisms to assist the patient’s finger joint rehabilitation, and the patient can autonomously switch into different rehabilitation modes when performing hand rehabilitation, including a mirror-guided mode and passive mode.
